    Job DescriptionIntrinsic Schools is a charter network in Chicago that is implementing a revolutionary new model for public education that prepares all students for postsecondary success and world-changing endeavors. Members of our team have the chance to make an impact with students and families by leveraging great teaching and technology to personalize education for each student.

    In addition to personalized plans for academics, we help students learn agency, critical thinking and citizenship by focusing instruction and school culture on Empathy, Perseverance, Identity and Curiosity. This is our EPIC curriculum, which is baked into different parts of each school day and is a big part of what differentiates Intrinsic Schools. When we talk about EPIC and explain our approach, we give it as much weight as we do academics.

    We currently run two exceptional public high schools open to all Chicago students. At our Belmont Campus, we serve students in Grades 7-12 – this is our first school, founded in 2013. At our Downtown Campus, we currently serve students in Grades 9-11 as we grow toward 9-12 – we launched this new school in Fall 2019 and will reach full enrollment in Fall 2023. Both of our schools are public schools, with enrollment that is based solely on an open lottery each spring – no tuition, entrance exams or other selective criteria. Our student demographics across both schools are 90% students of color, 86% free and reduced lunch and 19% students with disabilities.

    About the Opportunity

    The Technology Infrastructure Manager provides Intrinsic staff and students at both of our campuses with technical support, and promptly addresses any needs related to hardware and software both inside and outside of the classroom. They manage work with a mix of external vendors, network infrastructure, student and staff software and devices while also providing technical support and helping to plan for new campus technology.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Manage a device strategy for both students and staff
    • Maintain and manage relationships with Managed Service Providers
    • Distribute new devices to all students and staff
    • Maintain database for student and staff IDs
    • Maintain database staff key fobs
    • Maintain Keyscan Reader Access groups between both campuses
    • Manage and constantly refine our repair process to ensure timely repairs of devices
    • Maintain a fixed asset inventory – and ensure it is accurate and updated at all times
    • Maintain software images for all client devices Mac & Windows – and ensure this is accurate and updated at all times
    • Manage printer fleet and submit support tickets where applicable
    • Troubleshoot network issues – our goal is always to solve the issue internally if possible, before enlisting support from partners
    • Help lead staff trainings at the beginning of school year – with a focus on basic hardware
    • Work with staff year-round as needed to explain and teach any troubleshooting functions for staff devices and classroom hardware
    • Support students and staff in the classroom by troubleshooting issues and escalating appropriately
    • Support the Director of Instructional Technology with any technology tasks related to school-wide testing
    • Manage Hardware/Networking Budget
    • Work with external vendors to keep up-to-date on current contracts, and to escalate any issues that may arise
    • Keep close track of all inevitable Google Workspace updates, and help orient staff and students to any changes or updates that may benefit from or require their attention
    • Work closely with Intrinsic's Director of Instructional Technology and Technology Support Specialists to support all hardware and networking systems – this is the core internal team for the person in this role
    • Serve as a thought partner to others on the Tech and Data and provide some redundancy to critical functions
    • Meet with other members of 'cross-campus' teams as needed – data, academics, etc.
    • Learn new systems and stay up-to-date with changes in any current systems
    • Attend staff meetings – most often this includes morning meetings and all-staff C Days
    • Participate in staff circles
    Required Skills/Abilities
    • Strong interest in technology and ability to problem solve technical issues independently
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize different aspects of work
    • Google Workspace/ Active Directory Experience
    • Willingness to take feedback for continuous improvement
    • Ability to pay close attention to detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
    • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
    • Professional, solutions-oriented approach to work
    • Strong work ethic
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
    • Work experience in a hardware related role
    • Ability to travel to both campuses
