- Responsible for oversite on all accounting functions, including but not limited to invoicing, accounts payable, general accounting, payroll entries, sales vouchers and maintaining appropriate records through your team.
- Completes timely and accurate financial reporting with a fully reconciled general ledger.
- Manage the month-end close process, prepare bank covenant reports, monthly reporting to management, coordinate annual audit, cash management reporting and planning.
- Partner with corporate tax team to ensure accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns, taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
- Provide divisional and executive team with timely month-end, quarter-end, year-end reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to help analyze and solve community performance issues.
- Standardize and maintain a system of accounting records and processes.
- Supervise and manage accounting staff, including coaching and counseling to drive staff development.
- Periodically review accounting policies and procedures and recommend improvements if needed.
- Strong financial and accounting skills, as well as analytical skills. Audit experience a plus.
- Strong computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
- Strong written/oral communication, interpersonal skills with strong organizational skills.
- Frequent interaction with other departments, divisions, and external auditors.
- BS in Accounting preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Certified Public Accounting License strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and experience in homebuilding industry a plus
- Minimum 5-6 years working for a public accounting firm OR 6-8 years working in Finance/Accounting with leadership experience
- Combination of public accounting and industry experience (homebuilding) is a plus
- Must work 40 hours per week (during core business hours) with flexibility for longer hours as needed.
- Must conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to external business associates and coworkers to reinforce goodwill and profitability for the company.

Job Summary
The Controller leads and carries out the organization's accounting function by planning, implementing, and evaluating accounting policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Controller must be able to exercise independent skills and judgment and participate with the management team in recommending/making important decisions that align with company objectives.
