    Work Shield is seeking a Paralegal, Workplace Investigations to join our growing Investigations Team in our office in Dallas, Texas.     Job Description:

    The Paralegal, Workplace Investigations is responsible for pre-screening, assigning, and coordinating complex and sensitive workplace incidents including Title VII harassment and discrimination, Title IX harassment, discrimination and sexual harassment, retaliation and other workplace misconduct for our clients' employee populations. The role is expected to work effectively across geographical, diverse and cultural boundaries. This role will be in direct contact with our external investigatory partners, our clients and their employee populations, and our internal teams.

    Responsibilities:

    The Paralegal, Workplace Investigations will be assigned within the Investigations Team and works under moderate supervision. This role reports to the head of the Investigations Team.

    • Manages the Investigations Team inbox and responds to incoming emails accordingly.
    • Initiates investigation process by calling client contacts for investigation party contact information, calling parties to the investigation, and if needed, scheduling initial interviews with assigned investigator.
    • Completes intake and conducts pre-screen assessment and call, if necessary, of incoming incident reports of discrimination, harassment, and other workplace misconduct based on protected Title VII and Title IX status through Work Shield's call center and online reporting systems.
    • Updates the incident report with additional details in follow up to the complainant's request or oversight by the call center.
    • Generates weekly investigation audit reports to track internal and external team metrics.
    • Serves as a liaison between the Investigations and Client Success teams.
    • Implements quality control measures relating to final draft Incident Evaluation Forms uploaded to incident management portal.
    • Coordinates with investigators to assist in handling escalated claims and red alert issues.
    • Sends communications to internal and external teams to relay new Investigation Team processes, updates, training, etc.
    • Sits in on monthly check-in calls with external teams as well as routine client update calls, when needed.
    • Completes assigned portal projects to increase the scalability and efficiency of the incident management portal.
    • Generates monthly investigation related statistics and metrics in preparation for monthly board meetings.
    • Schedules meetings and conference calls with relevant meeting agendas.
    • Runs and analyzes routine incident investigation activity reports.
    • Develops a working knowledge of federal and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws, regulations, including Title VII, Title IX, labor relations and other related laws and policies.
    • Trains other investigators and Work Shield team members on investigation team processes and new portal enhancements.
    • Works with the Development Team to coordinate and communicate technical support issues related to the incident management platform.
    • Drafts and Finalizes Investigations Team processes in team training platform.
    • Operates with a people-centered approach in all interactions with team members, client contacts and their employees, external investigatory team, board members, and external stakeholders.
    • Uses a high degree of empathy and handles sensitive and confidential information.
    • Easily develops trust and rapport with others.
    • Other miscellaneous investigation related tasks and projects as assigned.

    Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
    • Certification in Paralegal Studies
    • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in coordinating employment law, compliance or HR-related compliance investigations
    • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
    • Strong problem solving and investigatory skills; ability to objectively identify, assess, resolve, and mitigate risk while ensuring optimal results or outcomes are achieved
    • Demonstrated ability to drive results through individual efforts
    • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with an ability to effectively interact with all levels within an organization, as well as the ability to create and summarize detailed written reports
    • Excellent customer service and relationship management skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, diplomacy and tact
    • Ability to work cross-functionally with other teams
    • Experience working in Google Workspace and with incident management platforms

    Compensation and Benefits:

    The salary range for people entering this role is up to $85,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
