    Tracking Code Job Description SUMMARY

    Plans menus, prepares and cook meals. Ensures kitchen management and inventory control.

    Required Skills JOB DUTIES

    Plans menus; prepares cooks and serves meals and snacks to meet USDA standards.

    Attend mandatory training that is identify essential to position.

    Identify special needs for consumers for allergies.

    Maintains kitchen inventory and orders supplies within budget guidelines.

    Determines time and sequence of cooking operations to meet meal-serving hours.

    Washes dishes, cleans kitchens and kitchen equipment.

    Researches and prepares culturally appropriate foods.

    Prepares snack trays and specialty foods for special events.

    Provides accountability and receipts for food purchases.

    Maintains kitchen facilities in compliance with OSHA regulations.

    Stocks food items on appropriate shelves with accurate labels.

    Food items must be thawed in an appropriate manner (not at room temperature).

    Develops activities to teach lifeskills to consumers in coordination with staff.

    Provides file documentation in accordance with established standards, and submits reports (i.e., required for MIS reporting, etc.) and other data in an accurate and timely manner.

    Responsible for management of food service delivery. Maintains all records to meet licensing/certification standard.

    Assists with data for food service (child nutrition) state records by working with the data specialist to report menus and consumer meal records.

    Disseminates nutritional information to residential consumers.

    Conducts life skills group to residential consumers as scheduled (approximately once a week) with treatment team. Completion of consumer progress notes is also required.

    Develops activities to teach nutrition to youth in coordination with the treatment team and consumers.

    Participants in treatment team meetings as required.

    This position may at times function as a Residential Aide when needed.

    Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

    NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

    Familiarity with human resources policies and procedures.

    Ability to report to work in a timely manner.

    Knowledge of customer service concepts and practices.

    Understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles.

    Skill in operating personal computer utilizing a variety of computer software.

    Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.

    Skill in oral and written communication.

    Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.

    Ability to work independently as well as with teams.

    Strong understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native Populations

    Required Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Five (5) years of experience institutional style cooking and management.

    Complete CPR and First Aid training within thirty (30) days of hire.

    Must complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training within one (1) year of hire date.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

    Technical or vocational training preferred.

    State of Alaska certification as Alcohol Counselor Technician required, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire date.
