    JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.
  • Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
  • Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.
  • Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.
  • Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.
  • Performs appropriate pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education.
  • Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
  • Two years of recent (within the past five years) Registered Nursing experience.
  • Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.
  • Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.
  • Certification in Continence Care is not required, but preferred.
  • Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS may be required on some units.

    SALARY RANGE: $42.00-$68.00/HR

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
