    Position at Hood Lumber

    Hood Industries, Inc is seeking a Reliability Engineer to play a key role in both our current and future operations at our Waynesboro, Mississippi lumber facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring reliable performance and continuous improvement within our current sawmill operations, while also supporting the design and implementation of reliability systems for our new, state-of-the-art sawmill now under construction. This is a rare opportunity to manage today's challenges while building tomorrow's standards.

    Purpose:

    Assist in leading the overall manufacturing operations by utilizing the Hood Management Philosophy, "The Hood Way". Lead by engaging People and improving Processes to drive sustainable Performance. Assist in meeting the company's production goals, while maintaining positive employee relations and operating within company policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for supporting and guiding the development, integrity, and continuous improvement of reliability processes, systems, and tools to support overall mill and equipment reliability.
    • Foster a reliability-focused culture throughout the mill by promoting proactive maintenance and ownership of equipment conditions.
    • Developing, analyzing, and maintaining reliability models, metrics, and tools to evaluate and track mill equipment reliability.
    • Responsible for identifying and implementing reliability improvements to reduce maintenance cost and downtime.
    • Developing and implementing a predictive and preventive maintenance strategy.
    • Support development and proper use of CMMS software.
    • Lead and support preventative/predictive maintenance programs (inspection, vibration, oil analysis, thermography, etc.) to ensure optimum equipment availability.
    • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive equipment performance improvements.
    • Supporting and leading failure investigations and root cause analysis efforts to identify corrective actions and prevent recurrence of reliability issues.
    • Collaborating with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), suppliers, and vendors to ensure the reliability of equipment, components, and materials.
    • Support and participate in all areas of safety, environmental, and quality standards.
    • Support training and knowledge transfer for maintenance and operations team members on reliability best practices.
    Education/Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or related field.
    • 3+ years of experience in a reliability, maintenance, or engineering role within a manufacturing facility.
    • Strong knowledge of reliability principles, practices, systems, and tools, such as predictive technologies, continuous improvements methodologies, data and trend development and analysis (FMEA, RCA, RCM, etc.).
    • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, drive initiatives, and implement reliability best practices.
    • CMMS experience.
    • Experience in using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoints, Teams, and Outlook.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and effective team building skills.
    • Certification in reliability (CRE, CMRP) is a plus.
    • Prior experience working in lumber mills or wood products manufacturing preferred.
    Salary Range: $100,855 - $122,000
