    Essential Job Functions

    • Ensure the efficient distribution of products through route restructuring, consolidation, splits, divisions, or other means designed to maximize volumes while limiting expense exposure.
    • Maintain goodwill between company and independent carrier force, ensuring carrier compliance with contract terms and taking appropriate action under the guidance of the Operations Manager when contract terms are violated.
    • Recruit for carrier route vacancies, determining when to place advertisements or use other methods for independent contractor recruitment.
    • Uphold independent contractor performance standards for customer service, ensuring all products are delivered by the proper time and in the proper condition as called for in the carrier contract.
    • Ensure subscriber satisfaction with delivery of all products and provide recommendations to supervisor for service improvements.
    • Investigate and respond to concerns of independent contractor carriers regarding compensation or billing issues.
    • Ensure a current contract with all required documentation is on file for all independent contractors in the assigned district.
    • Promote circulation growth in assigned territory by implementing subscription and retention programs as implemented periodically across circulation departments.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Working knowledge of newspaper distribution process and retention programs.
    • Ability to establish working relationships at all levels within the organization.
    • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work varied hours, including late nights/early mornings, weekends, and holidays due to the nature of the business performed.
    • Knowledge of customer service functions.
    • Strong administrative skills.

    Education & Experience

    • High school graduate or equivalent; some college preferred.
    • Previous experience in a newspaper setting is preferred.
    • Comparable education and experience will be considered.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
