Job summary
The primary purpose of this position is to support the underwriting function through customer service and rating and processing of underwriting files.This person works under direct supervision but also capable of taking some independent action and may have some limited underwriting authority following standard processing procedures.
Assists the underwriting team in processing and reviewing new and renewal business, riders, cancellations, and reinstatements for agents in accordance with established underwriting guidelines.
Works closely with more experienced underwriters and participates in review, evaluation, selection, triage, renewal quoting etc.in an effort to further develop underwriting skills as well as free up some of the underwriter's time so they can concentrate on more complex risks.
Provides excellent customer service develops strong customer service skills.Tries incoming business according to under writing criteria prepares referrals to appropriate under writer if request is beyond their authority or scope
