    Job Summary

    The Office of Belonging and Community Engagement at Jefferson Community and Technical College is seeking an innovative and passionate student champion to serve as the Assistant Director. This position is housed in the Multicultural Center, reports to the Director of Belonging and Community Engagement, and is responsible for planning and implementing a Black Male Initiative for students as well as assisting with programming and support services provided by the Office of Belonging and Community Engagement.

    Job Duties:

    •Plan, organize, promote, implement, and evaluate the Black Male Initiative (BMI).

    •Monitor approved expenditures of a program; prepare financial statements for BMI, as well as maintain records pertaining to activities within the program.

    •Serve as the advisor for the Black Student Union.

    •Co-create innovative student-centered events and programming for the Multicultural Center and implement them from beginning to end.

    •Identify and connect students to college and community resources.

    •Create and manage mentorship program.

    •Welcome and engage students in the Multicultural Center.

    •Coach students, both individually and in a group setting, toward success, including persistence to degree completion or transfer to a university.

    •Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to promote a supportive environment where students thrive.

    •Supervise student leaders and ambassadors.

    •Serve as a liaison with community to provide wrap around support.

    •Collaborate with community partners to design and facilitate community events and workshops.

    •Provide administrative support including, but not limited to, completing college paperwork for all steps in the purchasing process, HR paperwork related to the student leader hiring process, room reservation and related event requests.

    •Collect and monitor financial and programmatic information, including all program evaluation data.

    •Work with marketing office on communications and social media and requesting Jefferson promotional materials for event guests as needed.

    •Collaborate with staff and faculty to organize programming and support for identity groups including but not limited to Latinx and LGBTQ+.

    •Assist with Multicultural center programming, events, and duties.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Preferred candidates will have a bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in student affairs/college student personnel, counseling psychology, social work, communication, and other related fields.

    •Boundary spanner who can talk to anyone at any time in any setting.

    •Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.

    •Patient, persistent, and a visible passion for students and their success.

    •Passion for racial equity and justice-based work.

    •Proven track record and experience in community engagement and/or supporting marginalized student populations.

    •Strong administrative skills, organized, and ability to balance competing priorities.

    •Ability to coach students, assess needs, and follow-up.

    •Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills.

    •Experience using technology.

    •Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate students' schedules.
