- Assists in establishment of goals for the Infection Control program in conjunction with the Infection Control Committee, and other related committees.
- Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
- Interacts with to the necessary public health authorities. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
- Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs surveillance activities, analyzes data collection and conducts studies as deemed necessary. Investigates clusters/outbreaks; designs, implements and coordinates strategies to control clusters/outbreaks in collaboration with the Chairman of the Infection Control Committee.
- Plans, develops, prepares and presents infection control educational programs (orientation, mandated and informational) for hospital staff as well as the community.
- Prepares and submits regular reports of the results of surveillance to the Infection Control Committee and other related committees.
- Provides input to the review and revision of infection control policies and procedures; researches infection control-related issues to provide appropriate recommendations for policy and procedure development as well as for use of new equipment and supplies.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology required or
- related field required
- Field experience required and
- 1-2 years 2 years infection control experience preferred
- CIC - Certified in Infection Control Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
- Investigative data collection and analysis skills.
- Ability to use computer to collect data and prepare reports.
