    Basic Function


    HF Sinclair is seeking a Tax Associate to be responsible for tax related administrative support work and fiscal record keeping.

    Under general supervision, conducts a variety of tasks and coordinates the collection and analysis of data for presentation to taxing authorities or outside tax consultants to assist HF Sinclair Tax department with the preparation, filing and administration of ad valorem property tax returns and annual corporate business reports with various federal, state and local jurisdictions.

    Job Duties


    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Controls and coordinates timely filing of real and personal property tax statements with various state and local taxing jurisdictions and outside consultants
    • Coordinates payment processes for all ad valorem property taxes, including review and preparation of all tax payments on behalf of HF Sinclair and their subsidiaries, determining correct amounts for payment, identifying discrepancies, and tracking tax payments
    • Collects accounting records and coordinates asset data input required for annual property tax renditions and appeals and monitors property transfers and acquisitions in order to allocate property taxes between owner entities
    • Coordinates timely payment and filing of all excise/sales/use tax returns
    • Conducts, prepares and coordinates the filing of sales and use tax with various federal, state and local taxing jurisdictions and outside consultants
    • Prepares and files state tax returns, secretary of state filings, and annual business reports for HF Sinclair, and all corporate subsidiaries as required
    • Coordinates with tax managers and other stakeholders to retrieve, record and retain vital corporate information and obtain corporate registrations and proper business licenses necessary to operate legally in new states and jurisdictions
    • Maintains department calendars to ensure all HF Sinclair and subsidiary ad valorem property tax, annual report, business registration filing and stock award notice obligations are filed as required
    • Assists in gathering information for federal, state, and local income/excise tax audits as needed
    • Codes invoices for the department in accounting system


    Special projects or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in the supervisor's sole and complete discretion.

    Experience


    A minimum of five years of on-the-job experience with a minimum of three years work experience in a corporate administrative position or equivalent role is required.

    Education Level

    A Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.


    Preferred Education Level:
    Associate's Degree in business or related field preferred.

    Required Skills

    Organized, detail-oriented team player with strong multi-task skills, flexible, creative, resourceful, and highly-motivated with a desire for self-improvement.

    Ability to analyze account entries and adjustments and ability to perform basic mathematical concepts to calculate low liability returns and property tax amounts accurately.

    Basic to intermediate reading and writing skills, attention to accuracy and detail. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Proficient with computer word processing, database, e-mail and excel spreadsheet applications.

    Ability to collect, review and organize business related data; prioritize work activities; achieve planned objectives and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously to a successful completion.


    PREFERRED SKILLS:
    SAP FI/CO skills and RIA e-forms is preferred.
