    We are looking for a Vocational Counselor who will join our transitional housing programs for women and children. Are you that individual?

    This is a rewarding position that requires strong community relationship building and coordination skills and an ability to work with women who are recovering from substance use disorders who are trying to get back onto their feet again This position works closely with two additional case managers and our housing coordinators on our Manoa and Kaimuki campuses.

    Responsibilities:

    • Teach vocational related classes to clients, including development of pro-social skills and soft skills for employment.
    • Coordinate guest speakers and hands-on learning opportunities for clients
    • Accompany individual clients for specific case management services including referrals, collateral contacts and other client support services benefits as needed.
    • Provide individual counseling and consultation to assist in the development of vocational goals in coordination with clients' recovery plans.
    • Use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches to engage clients for pro-social skills acquisition and practice in contrast to anti-social skills as it relates to vocational needs/services.
    • Develop knowledge and understanding of changing employment market trends and applies this to vocational programming at FTS.
    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in a related counseling/psychology field with at least one-year experience in vocational related services. Requires independent working abilities, effective verbal and written communication skills, maturity, insight, and sound judgment that models pro-social behaviors for clients. Should be able to demonstrate professional level instructional skills, including planning, presentation, and evaluation. Personal vehicle and valid Hawaii State driver license required.

    Pay rate depending on experience and education:

    Hourly rate $19.71 to $22.59
