    General Summary:

    The program coordinator assists the dean to work with the faculty to promote the program internally and externally, assess student learning, keep the curriculum current, and work with the Court Reporting advisory committee.

    Candidate must currently be a full-time member teaching in the Court Reporting program.


    Job Duties:

    • Assist in program promotion activities, including meeting with students and their parents at the convenience of the candidate to demonstrate the steno machine and discuss the career of court reporting.
    • Teach Basic Training and A to Z Programs, a six-session free introduction to court reporting, in order to recruit new students.
    • Conduct a special court reporting orientation prior to the start of each new class and meet with returning students prior to subsequent registration
    • Meet with Advisory Committee for the Program. Meet, discuss current trends in court reporting and assist with implementation of Committee recommendations.
    • Engage in dialog with high schools, speak to the business students and demonstrate real time writing in an effort to develop a college in high school initiative.
    • Develop and facilitate partnerships with judicial, freelance and CART providers.
    • Develop partnerships and solicit funding through the various avenues available: Veritext Scholarship, individual donations, personal donations to the CCAC Educational Foundation.
    • Serve as member of the Student Community of Interest of the National Court Reporter's Association.
    • Coordinate Community Service Initiatives.
    • Administer the Court Reporter's Scholarship.
    • Attend meetings and conferences hosted by the Pennsylvania and National Court Reporters Association in an effort to become personally involved in the organizations.
    • Arrange for a mentoring program with CACC students and working court reporters.
    • Complete Program Review Documents.
    • Prepare five-year NCRA Program Recertification document and maintain NCRA standards in the curriculum.
    • Coordinate among Discipline program faculty assessment and follow-up activities to meet Middle States requirements in this area.
    • Coordinate among Discipline faculty the four-year program review.
    • Review assessment results, facilitate discussion among discipline faculty, and assist with implementing resulting recommendations
    • Develop classroom-captioning initiatives in conjunction with the Office of Disability Services at CCAC as well as Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, Robert Morris University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and other sites.
    • Train part-time faculty members in the use of Realtime Coach, EV360, which are online speed building programs.
    • Arrange for mock depositions in local law firms and courtrooms in an effort to provide realism outside of the classroom.
    • Prepare a program report and submit it to the Dean for Business and Information Technology at the end of each semester.
    • Other related duties as required.
