    Location/Department: MMPC - Physician Center - Batesville

    Part time 64 hours per pay period - benefit eligible

    Job Summary:

    To obtain accurate demographic & insurance information for all guests & to be knowledgeable in federal & state compliance regulations required for accurate & timely billing of insurance claims.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: None

    Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Obtains written or verbal consents for treatment.
    • Completes federal, state & local forms required for each specific account type.
    • Greet & login patients as they arrive for services.
    • Phone appropriate department advising of patient arrival.
    • Escort patient to appropriate department when indicated or advised.
    • Print & review all department schedules on a daily/weekly basis.
    • Pre-register all patients for future services dates, print face sheet, labels, & bracelets.
    • Complete registration accurately by reviewing existing registrations thereby eliminating duplicate registrations.
    • Demographic & insurance data obtained & verified on all patients.
    • Obtain insurance benefits on all inpatient, surgical & designated outpatient services.
    • Determine if pre-certification is required by insurance carrier prior to date of service.
    • Calculate observation hours & enter for billing.
    • Keep patients/visitors appraised of patient status & physician delays.
    • Complete flow sheets for utilization review indicating necessary pre-certification information.
    • Obtain pre-certification prior to service rendered.
    • Pre-collection of money for deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance on OB, Surgery, MRI and Oncology patients.
    • Arm/disarm security system, lock/unlock exterior/interior doors.
    • Turn lamps/computers & other area devices on/off at beginning & close of business daily.
    • Pick up magazines, papers, etc., keep waiting area clean & ready for guest.
    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Strong customer service skills; effectively communicates both verbal & written
    • Able to use computer & office equipment
    Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
    Physical Requirements:
    • Frequent sitting, talking, & use of hands
    Occasionally may need to lift up to 10 lbs
