4 West - Medical Surgical Unit:
36 bed medical-surgical unit including a 4 bed bariatric surgery recovery area.

4 West specializes in the care of post-operative patients from adolescence to adulthood in addition to caring for patients with variety of diagnoses and levels of care relating to all body systems including diabetes management, cellulitis, wound/ostomy care, and failure to thrive in the older adult.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of the healthcare organization.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Utilizes the nursing process in providing and coordinating the plan of patient care for the age appropriate population. (30%)
Initiates interdisciplinary plan of care based on assessment findings and physician orders for the age appropriate population. (30%)
Completes patient documentation in a comprehensive manner and promotes communication between caregivers. (10%)
Contributes to Division, Hospital, and Department goals. (10%)
Provides detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to effectively guide them through the episode of care as well as transition to another level of care and/or home. (10%)
Collaborates and supports the development of students, new staff and colleagues. (10%)
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
