- 4th floor Medical/Surgical unit is a 20-bed unit.
- The 4 Med/Surg staff primarily cares for adult patients who are recovering from surgery, but may also care for those that are acutely ill with a wide variety of medial problems and diseases.
- The primary patient population on this unit is general surgery and total joint replacements (i.e. hip and knee).
- As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the RN contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families.
- The RN maintains a practice environment that reflects the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers.
- BLS and ACLS
- National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- The ability to stand for extended periods.
- Strong technical skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Passionate about patient care
- Requires a minimum of two years of RN Med Surg experience.
- Graduate from a fully accredited RN program
- Active unencumbered RN Ilinois state license
- Ortho Med/Surg experience required
- One year of Epic experience
- COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster.
- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
- Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
- Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
- Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
- A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
- Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
