    At Rothchild Eye Institute, we have an immediate opening for a full-time experienced Medical Front Desk Specialist for our busy and growing ophthalmology practice. This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in a front desk position in ophthalmology, optometry, or medical practice. Our ideal candidate should be able to multi-task, be self-motivated, patient-oriented and extremely dependable. We are looking for a candidate that can interact well with patients, doctors, managers and co-workers.

    This position is a Monday - Friday, Day Shift position. No Weekends and No Holidays

    As our Medical Front Desk Receptionist, you would provide an atmosphere of comfort to all our patients and their family during the admitting process, ensuring all the necessary forms are completed upon check in, so that the patient may proceed with the surgical procedure being performed.

    Duties and responsibilities to include:
    • Answers incoming telephone calls in a professional and pleasant manner.
    • Greets patients on day of admissions and reviews patient data for accuracy.
    • Maintains pre-admission files.
    • Prepares patients chart prior to the patient's admission.
    • Gathers all chart forms and types identifying patient data on each sheet of the chart.
    • Prepares patients chart file complete with name, doctor's name and patient number for identification.
    • Checks and verifies all information for accuracy authenticity and makes any changes as indicated.
    • Attaches any notification necessary on patient's chart-i.e. deposits required, etc.
    • Instruct and have patient sign insurance consignment forms.
    • Completes receipt for patient when accepting a deposit or complete payment for the surgical procedure.
    • Contacts Admitting nurse when patient has completed the business office admitting procedure.
    • Obtains patient record after discharge and prepares for filing.
    • Reviews record for completeness.
    • Places incomplete charts in physician's file for signatures.
    • Report any adverse incidents to the administrator.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Essential requirements:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Previous medical receptionist preferred
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Strong hospitality skills and patient services
    • Must be self-directed, highly motivated, able to multi-task, work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
    • Possess a caring, patient, and friendly attitude
    • Able to sit, stand, and walk a considerable amount of time while on-duty.
