The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) in the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to serve as a Clinician Educator to support its teaching, scholarship, and service programs in response to anticipated growth in undergraduate medical education class size, the Family Medicine Residency Program, and Wellstar MCG Health primary care clinical services.
Responsibilities
Patient Care
Mixture of seeing private patients and precepting residents
Teaching/Instruction
UME Instruction
Provide clinical care for a panel of patients (panel size will be based on cFTE)
Precept residents in the Family Medicine Center
Provide clinical education to medical students in the Family Medicine Center
Provide didactic education to medical students and residents periodically
Participate in the creation of scholarly activity
Required Qualifications
MD or DO
Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
Board certified (or board-eligible) by the American Board of Family Medicine, eligible for licensure in Georgia and credentialing at Wellstar Health System.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc.
Advancement through the faculty ranks at Augusta University is only through the annual Promotion and Tenure process in which faculty may apply if eligible (typically five-year increments).
College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia, one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, is fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia.
MCG's partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices.
MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to nearly 600 residents and fellows in 51 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs.
Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine, and genomics.
The DFCM has an ACGME accredited Allopathic Family Medicine Residency Program, additional residency Osteopathic Recognition from the ACGME, and an ACGME accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Plans are to open a Rural Medicine Fellowship, a Geriatric Fellowship, with an Addiction Medicine Fellowship to follow in the near future.
Clinical teaching and services occur concurrently in the Family Medicine Center (FMC) and at Wellstar MCG Health as well as other affiliated local and regional clinical sites.
DFCM also runs a community-based clinic in South Augusta as a teaching site and provides medical coverage for a free medical clinic in the Harrisburg neighborhood of Augusta.
