Job Description: The Failure Analysis Lab in Cupertino is seeking an individual to focus on CT and Failure analysis of batteries. The candidate will be required to learn to operate 3D X-ray machines as well as perform various battery FA techniques including material deep-dive analysis. All necessary training in X-ray data collection and processing will be provided by the CT Team, no prior X-ray experience is is required, but some familiarity is preferred.
Scope
Use lab-based nano- and micro-focus CT techniques
CT data collection and analysis
Electrical and electrochemical testing and failure mode triage of commercial batteries
Battery teardown
Battery electrode analysis using optical, electron and X-ray microscopy
Work with cross-functional partners to drive root-cause analysis and material development projects
Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy System Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or related field; OR equivalent
