    Job Summary


    Central Washington University is recruiting an Assistant Professor of Public Health to join our Health Science team in Ellensburg, Washington.

    This role is an important member of our team as they enhance the vision for the University. The role is a campus-based position, which means you get to see the lives you are impacting. We're offering a salary, depending on education and experience, from $65,000 - $72,000 annually plus the awesome CWU benefits.

    The Role:


    This position in the Department of Health Science is expected to teach existing undergraduate and graduate public health courses in their area of expertise using a variety of modalities, with an emphasis on on-campus instruction.

    Faculty are expected to advise students, contribute to the department/program, engage in scholarship appropriate to their field, and provide service to the University, the community, and their profession.

    Faculty will integrate CWU's commitment to diversity and create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all students.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Terminal degree in Public Health (Ph

    D or DrPH) or a closely related degree in the field of public health including but not limited to:
    Community Health, Health Policy, Health Administration, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Occupational and Environmental Health, or Health Promotion (ABD candidates may be considered; however, the terminal degree must be completed within one year of start date.)

    Preferred Qualifications

    Possess superior teaching abilities as evidenced by student, peer, or supervisor teaching evaluations
    Capacity to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities, with an emphasis on on-campus teaching (examples; writing in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, research methods, global health, environmental health, cross-cultural health practices, health policy, public health ethics, etc.)
    Potential to meet or exceed department/college/university tenure requirements
    Evidence of embracing the social determinants of health as integral to health equity and social justice.

    Teaching, research, service or other experience that will contribute to CWU's commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students.

    Research activities that serve minorities or underserved populations (Rural Health, Hispanic Populations, Health Disparities, etc.).
    Evidence of or potential to seek and secure external funding to support research or teaching activities
    Potential to mentor and educate students who will serve diverse populations.
    Demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students through teaching and/or mentoring activities.

    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

    Annual Salary :
    $65,000 - $72,000 , based on a full-time nine-month appointment

    In accordance with RCW , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position.

    Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.


    Appointment :
    Full-Time, Tenure-Track, 9 Month Appointment. Additional Summer teaching may be available. Central Washington University is on the quarter system with appointments from mid-September through mid-June.
