    Summary:


    The PDO/After School Director manages the PDO and After School programs by ministering to and serving the staff and students of First Baptist Academy.

    Manage and complete all Department of Education paperwork and ensure that we are compliant in our PreK and After School Program.


    Specific Responsibilities:
    Ability to collaborate well with colleagues in all areas of education including planning, assessment, student care, and student life.
    Understanding and ability to meet the discipleship and developmental needs of students.
    Ability to communicate graciously and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential and sensitive student/family matters.
    Highly motivated and energized individual with strong initiative.
    Coordinate PDO and After School staffing schedule to ensure that staffing is adequate.
    Directly supervise PDO and After School staff.
    Call on substitute teachers when necessary - working alongside the sub coordinator for PDO staff

    Maintain PDO staff and After School staff compliance regarding prevention of child abuse and misconduct and other training requirements as indicated (CPR training, First Aid, etc.).

    Order PDO and After School curriculum and supplies and maintain to the PDO and After School budget
    Hold open house events and work alongside the Admissions Coordinator to enroll students into the programs.
    Serve as an assistant to the Lower School Principal performing duties as needed.
    Other duties as assigned by your Direct Supervisor.


    Requirements:
    Demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to help others follow Jesus
    Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and or Education
    3-5 years experience in serving as a director or assistant director in childcare (PREFERRED)
    Energetic and enthusiastic individual with a passion for caring for children, who is accessible and approachable.
    Exceptional knowledge and understanding of Department of Education guidelines and policies.
    Must become a church member of First Baptist Powell within 6 months of hire date.

    The on-site director, with the guidance of the board or owner of the program, shall be responsible for staff and the day-to-day operation of the program.


    On-site directors shall meet the following criteria:
    (a) The on-site director of a program shall be a full-time employee and shall be physically present in the program's facilities daily at least half of the total hours of operation.
    (b)

    A director shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age if hired after June 30, 2017 and shall meet at least one (1) of the combined education and experience qualifications listed below:

    Graduation from an accredited four-year (4 year) college AND One (1) year of full-time experience in a group setting. Experience may be paid or unpaid. (2 years school-age care experience = 1 year full-time experience)
    Sixty (60) semester hours of college training, with at least thirty (30) hours of which shall be in business or management, child or youth development, early childhood education or related field

    AND Two (2) years of full-time experience in a group setting. Experience may be paid or unpaid. (2 years school-age care experience = 1 year full-time experience)

    High school diploma (or equivalent), and Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) certificate for completing thirty (30) clock hours of orientation training, or the equivalent as experience) recognized by the Department AND Four (4) years of full-time experience in a group setting.

    Experience may be paid or unpaid. (2 years school-age care experience = 1 year full-time experience)
    Has been continuously employed as an on-site program director or child care agency owner since July 1, 2000.

    (c) Within the first thirty (30) days of employment by a program, a director shall complete an orientation provided by the Department of Education.
    (d) Directors shall complete at least thirty (30) hours of professional development, of which six (6) hours shall be in administration management or supervisory training and six (6) hours shall be in developmentally appropriate literacy practices.
    (e) If a director serves a dual role (e.g. an individual serving as the director and a teacher), the duties of each role shall be performed separately and not simultaneously.
