    Summary

    The MaineHealth Cancer Care Network (MHCCN) is actively seeking a hematologist-oncologist to join the oncology program at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, ME and Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, ME. Highlights of this opportunity include:
    • Part of a state wide oncology care program- the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network (MHCCN)-
      • The MHCCN is state wide, integrated care delivery network across the southern, central, and coastal regions of Maine and eastern New Hampshire
      • MHCCN's comprehensive cancer care program is ASCO QOPI, COC, NAPBC and NAPRC accredited.
      • Fully integrated surgical oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care, patient support/social worker, nutritionist service
      • Robust research program through membership of the NCI's Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). Opportunities to be PI or sub-PI of clinical trials
      • A total of 19 dedicated tumor board meetings for multiple cancer types (GI/GU, liver cancer, breast, lung, neuro-oncology, hematologic malignancies) a month, open virtually to all MHCCN members
      • Leading edge analytics and metrics including membership of ASCO CancerLinQ. EPIC EMR system with BEACON
      • Faculty position of the Tufts University School of Medicine. Participation in Maine Health's Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program
    • The Oncology/Hematology Practice- WCGH's Cancer Care program -
      • Rapidly growing and busy general oncology practices at each location staffed by 2 oncologists and 2 APRNs at Pen Bay and 1 oncologist and 1 APRN at WCGH
      • The new position is a full-time position defined as four days a week in the outpatient clinic setting divided equally between the two locations with one day of administrative time
      • Supported by on-site infusion center, oncology pharmacy staffed by pharmacists, nurse navigators, palliative care providers, social workers and other allied staff
      • The oncology team at Waldo County General Hospital, Belfast and Pen Bay Medical Center, Rockport, ME complement each other with a variety of shared services
      • Supplemented as necessary by tertiary care oncology services available at Maine Health Cancer Care, South Portland and Maine Medical Center (MMC), Portland. MMC is the state's leading tertiary care hospital with 700 licensed beds and is fully equipped to manage acute hematology including malignancies and complex oncology cases
      • Inpatient care is provided predominantly by hospitalists at each location
      • Call rotations shared with MHCCN partners at Pen Bay Medical Center and Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick, ME are approximately one week out of every 6

      • Belfast, Maine is a lively, year round hub of Maine art, hiking trails, shopping, food, boat building, music and events. Belfast's iconic downtown is a nationally designated Main Street community and working waterfront.
      • Similarly, Rockport, Maine is an area rich in natural beauty, arts and crafts, and history. The area is known for its dramatic coastlines, sandy beaches, sparkling lakes, and breathtaking mountains. Annual events such as the Maine Lobster Festival celebrate local traditions and crafts while the Rockport Opera House and other venues host concerts, plays, and performances, enriching the local culture with diverse artistic expressions.

    • Required Qualification-
    • A degree in medicine from an accredited medical school
    • Successful completion of Residency/Fellowship at an accredited program
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible for hematology or hematology and oncology
    • New graduates and those early in their careers are especially encouraged to apply
