    EMPLOYMENT TERM:
    Salary in accordance with established pay schedule for 240 days


    SALARY:
    Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Kanawha County Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level





    EVALUATION:
    Performance in this position will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310 and KCS G48A.


    JOB SUMMARY: To serve in a twofold capacity as instructional leader of the school and to serve as manager of facilities and administrative operations; in accordance with West Virginia School Law §18A-2-9 to serve as the delegated administrator responsible for the planning and management, operation and evaluation of the programs and services within the school.


    SUPERVISES:
    Teachers, student teachers, secretary, aides, custodians, cooks and volunteers





    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    (In accordance with WV Code §18A-2-9)
    1) Develops, implements, and continually evaluates curriculum, instructional programs and support activities to improve student achievement and ensure continual progress to meet or exceed national, state, and local academic standards.
    2) Supports the development of interdisciplinary teacher teams that are integral to the school improvement process.
    3) Uses multiple data sources to assess, identify and apply instructional improvements and to positively impact student achievement.
    4) Works actively with teachers and staff in determining effective instructional practices.
    5) Oversees the development and implementation of special education and student support programs and services and ensures timely delivery, documentation, and associated reporting.
    6) Creates, manages, and sustains a safe and orderly school environment, setting and communicating high expectations for student behavior and ensuring effective and appropriate prevention and intervention strategies.
    7) Builds and promotes a positive and supportive school climate that shows interest and caring for students.
    8) Conducts rigorous outreach to engage and involve parents and community in student support, instruction and governance.
    9) Establishes an environment of collaboration and empowers and engages staff in participatory decision-making.
    10) Analyzes and uses school enrollment data to plan, direct, monitor, and evaluate annual school budget for all resources for school day, before and after-school, summer, and other programs and activities.
    11) Follows the established evaluation procedures for evaluating all school staff.

    Instruction
    1) Develops a program that provides for various instructional levels and interests.
    2) Encourages the use of multiple procedures for the evaluation of student achievement.
    3) Implements a procedure for instructional placement of new enrollees.
    4) Provides instructional materials and equipment.
    5) Supervises the implementation of the Content Standards and Objectives.
    6) Attends to the professional care and use of student records.
    7) Coordinates the curriculum with feeder schools.
    8) Works with staff in developing the instructional program.
    9) Designs and implements an effective scheduling procedure.
    10) Provides for the inclusion of special curricular programs.
    11) Establishes and implements a school improvement process.
    12) Informs the community of existing instructional programs and activities.
    13) Works with faculty to plan and implement staff development programs.
    14) Evaluates instructional programs periodically and utilizes results in planning.
    15) Assesses the effectiveness of school policies and procedures.
    16) Conducts a continuous review of enrichment and extra-curricular programs.
    17) Implements a system to monitor student progress.
    18) Upgrades professional skills annually.
    19) Encourages and supports the integration of technology into instruction.

    Administrative Operations and Facilities Management
    20) Develops and implements a school philosophy.
    21) Interprets and implements board policy.
    22) Prepares and implements short and long range plans.
    23) Provides efficient organization for daily school operations and works with staff, students, and parents to design and maintain an effective discipline policy. 24) Administers effective attendance procedures.
    25) Organizes and supervises the management of extra-curricular activities.
    26) Coordinates transportation.
    27) Supervises the school food service program.
    28) Replies to inquiries from the community courteously and promptly.
    29) Communicates information, policies, and procedures to staff members.
    30) Communicates information, policies, and procedures to students.
    31) Provides parents with regular student progress reports.
    32) Communicates regularly with school support organizations (PAC, PTA, LSIC, etc.).
    33) Maintains communications with the various support divisions within the school system. 34) Assures confidentiality of privileged information.
    35) Recognizes staff contributions and accomplishments.
    36) Participates with staff in the development of continuing education programs based on school needs.
    37) Determines staff assignments.
    38) Maintains schedules for auxiliary personnel.
    39) Schedules extra-duty assignments.
    40) Cooperates with Human Resources in selecting staff members.
    41) Recommends school personnel for employment.
    42) Provides orientation and support for substitute teachers.
    43) Conducts an orientation program for new staff members.
    44) Works with the central office staff to provide materials, supplies, and furniture for the operation and maintenance of the school.
    45) Maintains a program for the care and maintenance of the school.
    46) Encourages efficient and economic use of school plant facilities.
    47) Submits timely operations requests for improvements and repairs.
    48) Provides for regular inspection of facility and grounds.
    49) Identifies needs with the staff and community for facility improvements.
    50) Follows procedures for equipment repairs and replacements.
    51) Encourages staff and students to maintain an attractive environment.
    52) Prepares with staff the instructional supply fund budget.
    53) Follows proper procedures in expenditure of general fund.
    54) Follows established procedures in managing school lunch funds.
    55) Assists sponsors of school organizations in preparing budgets.
    56) Provides a procedure for the purchasing of materials and expenditures of funds.
    57) Keeps accurate financial records.
    58) Utilizes self-appraisal for the improvement of administrative skills.
    59) Reflects ability to work with people.
    60) Involves the staff in the decision making process.
    61) Creates an atmosphere conducive to good staff morale.
    62) Shows the capacity to motivate other people.
    63) Demonstrates the ability to solve problems.
    64) Demonstrates unbiased attitudes in fulfilling administrative responsibilities.
    65) Provides leadership and demonstrates 21st Century Technology standards.
    66) Performs other duties as may be assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS: Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a and §18A-2-9.

    Master's degree;
    Minimum of five (5) years of secondary experience;
    Appropriate administrative certificate.
