Job summary
The General Surgeon position involves performing general surgical duties including preoperative evaluations surgeries postoperative care admissions consultations from internal clinics external IHS service units coordinating a variable work schedule conducting outpatient evaluations developing diagnoses treatment plans educating patients families regarding care treating a broad range of general surgical conditions for adult pediatric populations prescribing monitoring medications in compliance with federal Public Health Service standards ensuring safe effective cost-efficient drug therapy participating in performance reviews quality assurance programs surgical peer review submitting accurate timesheets logging hours daily minimum 2 hours may be billed after hours call backs participating
24 hour on call rotation during weekdays nights weekends holidays rounding on all inpatients during on-call weekends unless no patients are present.
