    General Description:

    The primary objective of this position is to assist in effectively planning, developing, and implementing the San Antonio Food Bank's Farmers' Market initiatives under the San Antonio Food Bank's Farmers' Market Association.

    The Farmer's Markets is a seasonal program that provides an intervention to improve food security by connecting neighbors with locally grown produce, leveraging vouchers from the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program from the Texas Department of Agriculture.

    In collaboration with the San Antonio Food Bank's sustainability program, this role will assist in the connection of farmers and neighbors throughout our service territory.


    Essential Functions (In-Season):

    Administer and screen eligible neighbors to participate in the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) or the Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (also known as the WIC Farmer's Market).

    Oversee the intake application process at farmer's market events including the issuance and tracking of redeemed vouchers.

    Oversee the administrative duties associated with the voucher management processes such as but not limited to- collection of vouchers from farmers, accuracy in voucher tracking/counting, data entry, reporting, etc.

    Connect with the finance department to ensure timely payments to participating farmers based on voucher submissions. Ensure the compliance of participating farmers i.e. trainings, site monitors, abidance to the guidelines established by the Texas Department of Agriculture, etc. Coordinate recruitment of volunteers and interns for the farmers' markets and plan to delegate responsibilities as needed.

    Maintain, evaluate, and develop relationship with sites hosting the Farmers' Markets consistent with goals set forth in the operating planMaintain the farmer's market calendar/schedule including connecting with the marketing and communications department for website updates as needed.

    Essential Functions (Off-Season): Assist with other programs tailored to meet the need of our senior neighbors to include the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and Project HOPE.

    Assist with the coordination and oversight of mobile markets as needed in collaboration with the distribution team. All other duties as assigned.

    QualificationsAvailability on Saturdays and weekdays (though only 5 days per week)Ability to provide excellent customer service Accept and amplify the SAFB mission.

    Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
    Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision.
    Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel.
    Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
    Good judgment and discretion. Ability to work outside for long periods of time. Has current Texas driver's license and a clean driving record.
