Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor - Boston

Job Summary
Obtains blood specimens from patients in accordance with established procedures while maintaining a professional customer sensitive atmosphere.Responsible for up-front specimen handling facilitating the workflow in and out of the laboratory performing various clerical preprocessing duties interacting with others using communication tools.
Works cooperatively with all hospital laboratory staff external clients through verbal written communications to resolve problems exchange information receive instructions establish protocols process patient specimens Responsible for accurate pre-analytical processing of laboratory specimens ensuring delivery of those specimens to appropriate laboratory section Includes handling biohazardous infectious material following proper safety precautions Also responsible assisting client services technical associates resolving specimen quality integrity concerns
-PATIENT SAFETYFollows established hospital departmental precautions procedures performance all job duties ensure safe work environment patients others include as appropriate:
- Demonstrates appropriate hand hygiene.
- Demonstrates use two patient identifiers.
- Demonstrates effective communication hand offs between providers shifts departments etc Demonstrates use proper precautions including use appropriate personal protective equipment
