    The Supervisor ensures the technical Staff is fully equipped with the knowledge, Staff, instruments, training, and supplies needed for reporting accurate and timely laboratory results. The Supervisor is readily available to the technical Staff to aid in problem resolution. Coaches, uses Quality Improvement methods, and progressive discipline to eliminate or minimize those practices adversely affecting accurate results reporting.

    Required Skills

    Skills:
    • Strong computer skills including programming, mapping, and knowledge of instrumentation, L.I.S. and H.I.S. interfaces, Word, Excel, Power Point.
    • Mechanical skills used to repair down instrumentation and ability to utilize available resources to minimize instrument downtime.
    • Strong problem solving skills including ability to focus on a problem, use sound judgment based on technical know-how, departmental policies, procedures and arrive at a timely solution.
    • Strong verbal and writing skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with EMR, Physicians, Nurses, Health Unit Coordinators, H.R., M.I.S., Engineering, Guest Services, Texas Tech, vendors and off campus clients.
    • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical health workers.
    • Strong Customer Service skills with an emphasis on positive patient experience and family centered care.
    • Ability to handle continual change and stressful situations.
    • Ability to organize and store voluminous amounts of information and retrieve rarely used information upon demand.
    • Ability to multitask.
    • Comfortable with conflict resolution and negotiation.
    Required Experience

    Work Experience:
    • Two years of clinical experience in high complexity testing as a Medical Technologist.
    • Supervisory experience preferred.
    License/Registration/Certification:
    • Certified/Registered with A.S.C.P. or N.C.A.
    • Certification in specialty area, preferred.
    • Annual renewal membership is required.
    Education and Training:
    • Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, or equivalent education required.
    • B.S. degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science, preferred.
