    Senior Tax Accountant - CPA preferred, but not required


    General Responsibilities :
    The Senior Tax Accountant will lead the tax department's efforts and strategize to ensure profitability and growth. Determine tax liability or collect taxes from individuals or business firms according to prescribed laws and regulations. Collect and analyze changes in local, state, and federal regulations to ensure work processes follow those changes.
    Oversee and ensure the accurate maintenance of tax records, tax return preparation, tax-related schedules, and reports.

    Supervise the tax department team and certify tax-related documentation for local, state, and federal level returns prepared by the tax team.


    Essential Job Duties :
    Organize and lead client engagements. Conduct research, outreach, and attract clients to maximize the firm's profits. Identify the firm's most profitable target market segments. Develop and recommend a compelling value proposition highlighting the unique benefits and advantages the firm can offer clients.
    Establish strategies to ensure the department's profitability. Segment clients based on their profitability needs and potential growth. Prioritize high-value clients and allocate resources accordingly.
    Build strong, long-term client relationships based on trust, transparency, and excellent service. Regularly communicate with clients to understand their evolving needs and provide tailored solutions. Implement a client feedback system to gather insights and address any issues promptly.
    Streamline internal processes and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Create and document efficient workflow processes and provide them to staff. Implement performance metrics and KPIs to track progress and identify areas for optimization. Identify technology solutions to improve productivity.
    Manage the tax team's preparation of tax forms and apply quality control measures. Guide and assist staff in tax document preparations.
    Maintain knowledge of tax code changes, accounting procedures, and theory to evaluate financial information properly. Develop and lead staff training in tax code changes, accounting procedures, accounting software, and tools to ensure proficiency. Coach and advise team members on client interaction and self-development expectations.
    Review selected tax returns and direct the nature and extent of audits. Use analytical skills and business acumen to identify improvement areas and document client recommendations. Ensure compliance with Florida and federal auditing requirements.
    Represent the client in matters related to Internal Revenue Service inquiries and investigations.
    Prepare forms and verify computations have been performed correctly, or that amounts match those on supporting documentation. Examine and analyze tax assets and liabilities. Review previous tax returns and financial documents to identify missing or incomplete information or documentation. Review all supplied financial information for accuracy.
    Contact clients to address discrepancies and request supporting documentation. Maintain records for each case, including contacts, telephone numbers, and actions taken. Notify clients of any overpayments or underpayments.
    Calculate taxes owed or refunds due to clients and consult tax law publications for guidance on unusual situations. Processes individual and corporate income tax returns and sales and excise tax returns. Submit tax returns for review and present approved returns to clients.
    Enter tax return information accurately into software and e-filing platforms for processing. Calculate form preparation fees according to the required return complexity and processing time. Log in to Breeze and communicate with the executive assistant for timely billing.

    Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records to prepare financial statements, give advice, or audit and evaluate statements prepared by others, as directed.


    Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills :
    Knowledge of the Firm's policies and procedures, industry accounting principles and practices, and financial data analysis and reporting.
    Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for assistance, and evaluation of a customer's satisfaction.
    Analytical and critically evaluate data, identify issues in documentation, and suggest solutions.
    Strong organizational skills, ability to pay attention to detail, and ability to complete work tasks thoroughly.
    Ability to make mathematics calculations and tabulations accurately. Analyze, compare, and interpret data.
    Ability to complete various tasks simultaneously under time constraints and stressful situations.
    Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to listen to and discuss facts and concerns from clients, managers, and other stakeholders.

    Maintain continued proficiency in using technology and software applications, including but not limited to office suite, database, project planning, accounting, and electronic storage software.

    Education and Qualifications :


    A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration from an accredited college or university or equivalent education or work experience is required.

    A master's degree in business administration (MBA), master's of finance, or master's in accounting (MAcc)or equivalent is preferred.
    Three (3) years of accounting and tax experience in a financial institution is required.
    Demonstrate general knowledge of QuickBooks Online.


    Licenses, Certifications or Registrations :
    A Florida Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing is required.
