    Job Title: Credit Strategy Data Scientist

    Location: Draper, UT or San Jose, CA (Hybrid, Open to Remote)

    Contract Type: 12 Months (Potential Extension or Conversion)

    Job Description:

    We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Credit Strategy Data Scientist to join our Credit Risk Strategy team. This role will be instrumental in leading key projects related to credit risk assessment, data analysis, and loss mitigation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design rules to detect and mitigate loss, investigating novel or large cases, and identifying root causes.
    • Develop strategies for different risk types and collaborate with product/engineering teams to enhance control capabilities.
    • Present strategies and guide execution, driving results to maximize eligible customers while controlling losses.

    Professional Experience/Background:

    • Minimum 2 years of experience in risk analytics, data analysis, or data science within the Fintech or online payments industry.
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, data mining, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Excel, including key data science libraries.
    • Experience using statistics and data science to solve complex business problems and working with large datasets.
    • Ability to clearly communicate complex results to technical experts, business partners, and executives, including development of dashboards and visualizations.
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to steer analytics projects toward clear business goals, testable hypotheses, and action-oriented outcomes.
    • Demonstrated analytical thinking through data-driven decisions and the ability to work with teams to make a big impact.
    • Desirable to have experience or aptitude solving problems related to risk using data science and analytics.
    • Bonus: Experience with AWS, payment rule systems, and knowledge of credit products.

    Expected Outcome in 6-12 Months:

    • Work closely with team members and stakeholders to consult, design, develop, and manage credit trends and losses.
    • Utilize data analysis to design and implement credit strategies, identify loss patterns, and optimize systems.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deploy data-driven credit solutions at scale and in real-time.
    • Make business recommendations to leadership and develop dashboards and visualizations to track KPIs of implemented credit strategies.
