    Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies Company, is seeking an Process Inspector CMM to work at our state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Toney, AL, for fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware.


    Essential Functions:


    Responsible for performing inspections, tests and/or audits of purchased parts, units, materials, equipment, panel/module level assemblies and quality control programs to specifications.

    Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications and lists to approve or reject units, test setups, or systems for in process or final assemblies.

    Inspects and may perform minor rework on defective or malfunctioning units or systems. Maintains support documentation and performs sampling and testing of incoming components, raw materials, and build of assemblies. Reviews and reports performance data. Ensures raw materials, in-process and finished products meet company and test standards. Determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection. May interface with customer quality representatives or suppliers.

    Composite Manufacturing Inspection Process and Quality Facilitation


    Use CMM and other precision inspection techniques to inspect products, processes and procured itemsto ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.


    Develop and execute audit plans to assure the processes are being followed, equipment is beingmaintained and calibrated and materials meet all requirements including shelf life.


    Oversee various operations at once, ensuring process standardization via Process Variation Managementincluding data collection, data interpretation and presentation to determine if processes are in control.

    Work with the operations team to ensure products meet specifications and schedule requirements.
    Coordinate with the Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Engineers in operations to troubleshoot andrecommend solutions for problems.


    Oversee and train on the use of various measuring devices; accept, reject, or rework defective ormalfunctioning units or systems; work with diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures,etc.; work from blueprints, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists;monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures; inspectcustomer-owned materials, hardware, etc.

    for compliance to specifications, drawings, workmanshipstandards and to the customer's contract or purchase order.

    Process Standardization


    Evaluate various similar processes within the shop and create standardized inspection methods andcriteria to minimize error, mistake-proof processes and define standard work.


    Provide assistance in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturingprocess, collect data, conduct and oversee training, and/or assist in research work, exercising judgmentto identify and recommend solutions where errors may be very difficult to detect and require significantexpenditures to resolve.

    Troubleshoot processes and identify, modify and/or escalate out of control processes and productionescapes.

    Facility Support

    Coordinate with maintenance, supervision and/or operations team in the set-up and calibration ofequipment and tooling. Ensure that the calibrated items process is being followed and conduct periodicaudits of facility areas.

    Participate in preventative maintenance activities.

    Other duties as assigned.


    Requirements:
    Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills.

    Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

    Thorough knowledge and full understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing systems (GD&T) strongly desired.
    CMM operation and programming (Calypso preferred)
    Extensive understanding of AS9100 and related quality management standards strongly desired.

    Experience leading a team is desirable.

    Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) desirable.
