Vintage Wine Estates, Inc. is a collection of vintner family-owned winery estates and brands based in Santa Rosa, California. We are an industry leader across all sales channels and dedicated to providing wine consumers with a range of wine selections from $10 to $100 dollars. Vintage Wine Estates is a dynamic, growing organization seeking a Director of Cost and Inventory to join our team. Customer service is central in our culture, with focus on both our external and our internal customers. Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Cost & Inventory is responsible for leading the cost and inventory accounting team and has ownership of ensuring the accuracy of all inventory reported on the consolidated company balance sheet as well as the cost of goods as reported on the consolidated company income statement. This position interacts with and supports all functional areas of the organization utilizing excellent communication and management skills, along with a strong understanding of cost and inventory accounting within the consumer-packaged goods manufacturing business, preferably wine industry focused.

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**

Inventory Valuation ensure accurate and timely month end reporting of inventory values for all categories: grapes, bulk wine, cased goods, merchandise, and dry goods, in accordance with GAAP requirements and company close timeline.

Reporting related to internal and external inventory movements and balances including account reconciliations.

Cost of Goods establish and maintain inventory costing process in accordance with GAAP requirements, including variance analysis and cost projections for use in budgeting and forecasting

Assist with Margin Analysis implement and maintain regular costing review process across key brands and channels, providing cost analysis and projections to brand/channel managers

Custom Services work closely with production team and the Production Services Project Manager to ensure accurate and timely reporting and invoicing for all custom crush, production, and bottling services performed by VWE

Physical Inventory owner with the support of management, of the development and implementation of physical inventory and adjustment policy across all locations and inventory that is both company owned and third party owned

Compliance Reporting work closely with outside compliance contractors to provide accurate and timely inventory reporting for both state and federal compliance requirements

Annual Audit provide cost and inventory reporting and reconciliation support during annual audit performed by CPA firm

**REQUIRED SKILLS:**

Articulate and professional communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to translate complex and technical analysis into relevant, concise conclusions for senior management and customers both internal and external

Demonstrated ability to lead a team and to interact effectively with all levels of the organization as well as external parties

Ability to influence without authority

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize within a dynamic environment

Self-starter capable of building analysis from ambiguous information with high attention to detail

Advanced capabilities using Excel.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**

Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance Minimum.

5 years of experience in a cost accounting or analyst role, preferably in the wine industry

3 years of experience in a management role

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and/or Jet Reports preferred
