    Emergency Services Consultant

    This position requires an active DOE Q clearance. Applicants with TS/SCI Clearances may apply.

    DOE's Savannah River Operations Office is responsible for oversight of the DOE's Environmental Management (EM) operations under the Office of Environmental Management (EM). The Office of Security & Safeguards is seeking an Emergency Services Analyst to work with the SRS Continuity of Operations Program (COOP) as described below.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Estimated Starting Salary Range for Emergency Services Consultant: $120,000 to $140,000.

    Pay commensurate with experience.

    Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

    Emergency Services Consultant Responsibilities Include:
    • Assist in the review and approval process for emergency planning documents. Support includes development of reviewer guidelines, summary report template, and assistance in document reviews.
    • Assist in the development and implementation (COOP)
    • Develop Template for SRS M&O contractor to use to develop COOP Program; Review and comment on annual implementation plan.
    • Assess M&O COOP Program post implementation.
    • Develops COOP training program.
    • Develop and maintain COOP materials and documentation.
    • Review lessons learned and develop process improvement initiatives
    • Develop metrics and criteria for assessments.
    • Develop matrix of sitewide dependencies
    • Conducts assessments of Emergency Management activities
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
    Emergency Services Consultant Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
    • A combination of 5 or more years of generalized experience in all aspects of DOE emergency services programs; familiarity with DOE nuclear facilities.
    • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent and prior experience at DOE site(s) performing DOE Emergency Management activities.
    • Technical writing and editing proficiency and experience.
    • Previous experience in emergency services, disaster response, or a related field is often essential. This could include roles in emergency management, firefighting, paramedicine, or law enforcement.
    • Experience in a consulting role, providing expertise and advice to organizations or agencies on emergency services and preparedness.
    • Familiarity with the Incident Command System, a standardized management system used for the command, control, and coordination of emergency response.
    • Proficiency in developing and implementing emergency response plans for various scenarios.
    • Ability to assess and analyze risks associated with potential emergencies and develop strategies for mitigation.
    • Strong communication skills to effectively convey emergency procedures, coordinate responses, and interact with various stakeholders.
    • Ability to communicate effectively during crisis situations, providing clear and timely information to the public, media, and internal teams.
    • Leadership skills to guide and coordinate emergency response teams during crises.
    • Collaboration with government agencies, first responders, community organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and effective emergency response.
    • Ability to adapt plans and strategies based on the evolving nature of emergencies and unforeseen challenges.
    • Providing training sessions and educational programs to enhance emergency preparedness within organizations and communities.
    • Typical work week 4 days a week (7-4) but can be intermittent hours if schedule demands.
