    Description

    Reporting to the State Managing Attorney, the Associate Attorney is responsible for litigating a full caseload of debt collection matters, reviewing pleadings, attempting to reach resolution of contested matters, and other reports as required by state and firm needs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Reviews correspondence and files to determine if suit appropriate.

    Reviews, answers, and prepares discovery and dispositive motions.

    Manages all aspects of preparing for and conducting of trials throughout the state.

    Represents clients in pre-suit and post-judgement matters including filing of post judgment remedies (attachment and garnishment).

    Handles counterclaims and self-defends lawsuits brought against the firm or our clients.

    Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Prior experience with a creditor's rights firm or consumer's rights firm a plus.

    Understanding statutes and case law surrounding California Civil Procedure, State and Federal statutes concerning debt collection, such as FDCPA/FCRA/TCPA is required.

    Must have the ability to work independently.

    Managing shifting priorities in a fast paced, results driven environment is required.

    Must be able to collaborate and effectively communicate with attorneys and non-attorney staff.

    Education and Experience:

    Requires a JD in law and bar admission in California.

    Entry level litigation position.

    Physical Requirements:

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    Frequently required to talk or hear, and use hand to type, handle, or touch objects.

    Regularly required to stand and walk, and may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.

    Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at times.

    Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

    Work Environment:

    The is a remote based position.

    Schedule:

    Monday through Friday, typically 8am to 5pm with some flexibility to support business needs.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Salary: $95, $110,000.00 per year
