As our new Developer Apprentice, you will join the Enterprise-Wide Applications team, working across various platforms under the mentorship of a Senior Developer.
While your primary focus will be on learning and development through on-the-job training, you will also support the developer team in various capacities.
work closely with business analysts and clients, delving into their requirements to ensure a comprehensive understanding, applying secure programming techniques, and adhering strictly to standards and best practices.
Your responsibilities will encompass various tasks such as code commenting, conducting unit tests, configuring systems, and offering support services as needed.
Additionally, you'll be involved in operational support tasks, spanning from minor bug fixes to substantial enhancements, and you will participate in the planning efforts for technology modernization, ensuring alignment with evolving technological landscapes.
Some of your key duties will include:Collaborating with supervisors, team leads, and other team members to create estimates and timelines.
Developing applications aligned with business requirements, utilizing Agile methodologies as required.
Writing code for in-house applications or managing configurations for COTS applications according to standards and best practices, while minimizing defects through thorough unit testing.
Strategizing the development approach to meet current customer needs and anticipate future enhancements.
Supporting a limited number of production websites.
A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
While most salary offers are made within the posted range, occasionally an offer is made below or above the posted range based upon this salary analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of ActivateWork's Software Engineer Pre-Apprentice Training Program conducted by Per Scholas.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in technology-related fields.
Conditions of Employment:
This position is term-limited with an expected end date of 6/30/2025.
This position may end sooner due to business needs.
OIT candidates and employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.
Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.
This position may require on-call duties as needed by the position.
If this posting indicates "remote from anywhere in CO" in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required.
While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position.
A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.
