    The Opportunity

    This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in the Electrophysiology Division. In Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) business, we're advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

    The FP&A supervisor is a key finance stakeholder who works primarily with Operations and Product Development business partners leading all aspects of the financial planning, forecasting and execution process for the Plymouth manufacturing operations. This position is ideal for someone seeking to broaden their experience in financial planning, reporting, and manufacturing cost accounting. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who continuously drives for improvement, challenges the status quo, and will be a valued business partner to move the organization forward through the execution of timely, accurate, and high-quality financial planning and analysis.

    What you will work on

    • Standard and ad-hoc financial planning, reporting, and analysis for annual planning, rLBE cycles, or ad hoc projects as needed.
    • Coordinates and provides cost planning, analysis and reporting to management for assigned manufacturing site(s) which includes setting production cost standards for labor and material, supporting and updating standard cost files, partnering with manufacturing entity managers to develop and track budgets, updating forecasts, providing variance analysis, providing product cost analysis.
    • Monthly closing activities include preparing journal entries and analyzing variances leading to P&L commentary of root causes.
    • Provides sophisticated reporting to management due to extensive knowledge of the finance systems and high familiarity with the business operations.
    • Based on reporting and analysis, makes recommendations to finance management to save costs, scale for the future and support data accuracy. This may include recommendations relating to purchase price, scrap, inventory cycle counts, and work order volume.
    • Serves as finance subject expert for assigned manufacturing entity(ies) and leads special projects as assigned by finance management.
    • Identifies areas that can be improved and constructively propose innovative solutions that drive efficiencies. Develop and use sound financial processes to drive improved business performance.
    • Thorough understanding of Corporate/Division financial policies and procedures and GAAP. Responsible for adherence to Abbott accounting policies and procedures (CFMs).
    • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
    • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
    • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

    Required qualifications.

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
    • 6+ years of financial analyst experience with increasing responsibility, including experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of balance sheet transactions and their impacts on the income statement
    • A qualified record of implementing new processes effectively and efficiently.
    • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
    • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), must be skilled at building and supporting Excel-based financial models.
    • Able to manage multiple assignments, achieving required deadlines without sacrificing quality in a demanding environment.
    • Must be able to perform in a diverse cross-functional team environment.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Advanced level degree(s) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
    • Advanced professional level such as an MBA, CPA, CMA, or CPIM designation or equivalent
    • Medical device experience
    • Experience in a high-tech, product-manufacturing environment
    • Strong experience with SAP ERP system software and Hyperion Planning/Essbase systems
