    TITLE: Technology System Specialist

    REPORTS TO: Technology Coordinators

    JOB GOAL: To employ a professional versed in software applications, computer hardware, and local area networks to assist in the enhancement of the technology infrastructure in Ohio
    County Schools.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Hold a minimum of an associate's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
    • Must be eligible for the authorization for Technology System Specialist as provided in the West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5202, Section K.K., which describes the work requirements and the authorization requirements for a Technology Systems Specialist (TSS).
    • Possess at minimum two valid Basic Level Technology Certifications or one valid Advanced Level
    • Certification as approved by the WVDE. (*Or the ability to obtain certifications)
    • TSS's must complete at least 12 clock hours annually of in-service credit offered or approved by
    the WVDE.
    • Knowledge of hardware and technical software operations for local area networks, servers and
    • operating system software, computer workstations, peripherals, and related educational
    • technologies
    • Demonstrate ability to operate technology equipment and use standard software programs such
    as word processor, presentation software, and spreadsheets.
    • Possess following skills:
    • Ability to maintain accurate detailed records
    • Ability to understand technical manuals and apply the methods to resolve technology issues
    • Demonstrate effective communication
    • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
    • Support and maintain local area networks, servers, computer workstations, or other related
    • systems or technologies.
    • Work with the technology office and school administrators to provide access to technology
    • resources and services.
    • Responsible for the documentation, inventory, installation, configuration, service maintenance,
    • repairs, modifications, and upgrades on local area networks (LANs), computers, workstations,
    • peripherals, electronic whiteboards, data projectors, operating systems, software and other
    • technology related components.
    • Assist in implementation of security policies and procedures
    • Plan, test, and deploy networking products, software, and migrations
    • Manage users, permissions, and security settings
    • Configure and manage anti-virus and risk management applications
    • Install and configure local and network versions of software
    • Plan, implement, manage, and provide routine maintenance to all computers
    • Research any misuse and abuse of computer, network, or Internet privileges
    • Perform data back-up and recovery procedures
    • Assist with training teachers in equipment operations
    • Provide technical expertise, guidance, and informal training to teachers and students using
    • hardware and software programs
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory of technology equipment
    • Maintain and utilize technology ticketing system to investigate and resolve technology user
    • issues
    • Other duties and responsibilities relevant to the position as assigned by the Superintendent
