Overview
Established in 2003, our client is a premier manufacturer of high-quality industrial valves for critical applications in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, and power industries.
The Associate Quality Engineer's responsibilities include code implementation, NCR/CAR management, cross-department liaison, product testing, and process improvement. Ideal candidates have >5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, proficiency in 3D CAD software, and knowledge of FEA and CFD simulation tools. Don't worry if you're missing some experience; the company provides training on industry specifics and quality engineering procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
Deep Dive into
Product Knowledge:
Develop a comprehensive understanding of our diverse product lines, design codes, standards, and regulations. Implement these standards effectively across projects.
Quality Management Support:
Assist the Quality department in the management of NCRs, CARs, PARs, OFIs, and Customer Complaints, ensuring timely and effective resolution
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Act as a bridge between the Quality and Engineering departments, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration on various projects
First Article Product Testing:
Collaborate with quality and operations teams to build and test first article products, ensuring adherence to quality metrics and standards
Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
Drive product and process improvements based on quality metrics and emerging trends, contributing to the enhancement of our manufacturing processes
Vendor Interaction:
Engage with vendors as needed to support product development and manufacturing processes
Valve Assembly Support:
Assist the production team with valve assembly and testing issues, ensuring smooth production processes
Documentation and Work Instructions:
Develop, modify, and manage internal and service work instructions to ensure clarity and consistency in processes
Large Production Order Planning:
Support in the planning and execution of large non-standard production orders, ensuring efficiency and quality
Technical Skills Development:
Engage in CAD modeling, CAD drawing, and FEA simulation to enhance your technical expertise.
Required Skills and Qualifications:1-5 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing setting.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) from an ABET-accredited institution.
Strong command of mechanical engineering principles to drive quality initiatives.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing, with preference for SolidWorks experience.
Working knowledge of API 6D and ASME B16.34 design codes.
Familiarity with FEA and CFD simulation tools for analysis and optimization.
Experience with fabrication and welding processes to support manufacturing.
Ability to think critically and solve complex problems, contributing to continuous improvement.
Ability to show initiative and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Must currently reside in the Houston area (relocation assistance not available)
