Prequel is seeking candidates for a full time, Digital R&D Engineer role for a growing manufacturing organization in the La Vergne TN area. This role includes a competitive full-time salary, excellent health, and retirement benefits along with a hybrid working model.
This role will be at the forefront of the company's digital transformation journey, leading the design, development, and delivery of new connected products. Working closely with the larger Research & Development team, this role will integrate IoT connectivity into the company product portfolio and develop retrofit solutions to enhance functionality.
Responsibilities will include:

• Manage projects from concept through design, verification, and product realization, collaborating with cross-functional teams for successful integration
• Conduct feasibility studies for development projects, assessing design and manufacturing capabilities
• Prepare engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and sequences
• Coordinate with third-party approval agencies for sample selection and testing to meet certification requirements
• Plan and execute experimental test programs to validate and certify products or solutions

Qualifications:

• 5 years of professional experience; Bachelor's Degree in engineering
• Familiarity with product development and certification processes, including manufacturing
• Proficiency in computer software applications and 2D/3D CAD modeling
• Understanding of analytical tools such as FEA; electrical design experience preferred
• Knowledge of machine communication protocols (e.g., Modbus) and IoT products
• Basic understanding of IT structures and internet-ready communications
