    Salary Range: $80,515 - $129,629

    Purpose of Classification:

    The main role of this position is to support and fill in for the Director, EMA by organizing and overseeing the activities of operational and administrative staff involved in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies and disasters in the County.

    This position is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug testing as per the County's Drug & Alcohol Policy.

    Essential Functions:

    • Manage and evaluate assigned staff
    • Assist in coordinating departmental operations
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans
    • Coordinate training programs for internal and external agencies
    • Advocate for emergency preparedness in the community
    • Coordinate mutual aid support with neighboring entities
    • Ensure compliance with rules and regulations related to emergency management
    • Oversee the County's emergency operations center
    • Administer departmental budget
    • Respond to major incidents and disasters
    • Prepare various documents
    • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders

    Minimum Qualifications:

    A Bachelor's degree in public safety, emergency management, homeland security or a related field is mandatory; along with five years of experience in emergency management, public safety, or homeland security, including three years of supervisory experience. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

    Specific License or Certification Required:

    Must hold a valid Georgia driver's license; possess a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) certification with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) or complete specified certifications within set timeframes.
