    Job Description


    This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

    The Sr. Aquatics Director position is designed for strategic thinker and experience aquatic operator.

    Their responsibilities will include but not limited to; staff supervision, staff training, program development and implementation, facility scheduling in aquatics, operational management and safety and overseeing competitive programs and coaches.

    This role will report to the Vice-President of Operations.

    Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree required
    • A minimum of 6 years of aquatic leadership experience preferable with multiple pool locations
    • Previous experience working with competitive aquatics programs.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Certified Pool Operator or ability to obtain within 6 amount of hire.
    • Certified lifeguard or ability to obtain within the first 3 months of hire.
    • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising
    • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
    • Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Publisher and Access
    • Demonstrates exceptional time management abilities, capable of managing various tasks concurrently and meet challenging timelines.
    • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
    • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
    Essential Functions


    • Ensure risk management and safety policies are implemented for all aquatic programming, including safety checks, emergency drills, and in-service training
    • Plan, develop and schedule mission-driven program offerings within the framework of policies and procedures established by the Association
    • Work collaboratively with competitive aquatic coaches and participants to drive a deeper connection to the Y's mission
    • Hires, trains, and supervises aquatics staff and volunteers. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive, association-wide year-round training plan for designated areas of focus related to lifeguards, swim instructors, and trainers, to include prerequisites and opportunities for National YMCA certifications. Ensure all in-service and audit requirements are up-to-date and training calendar is followed.
    • Take ownership of pool operations including but not limited to appropriate water quality, chemical testing, pump room duties, and required chemicals.
    • Responsible for the aquatics budget and meeting financial KPI's for the Association.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
