    Description

    We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Certified Medical Coder to join our team. As a Certified Medical Coder, you will be responsible for accurately assigning appropriate medical codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services performed by healthcare providers. This role requires proficiency in Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), and International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Reviewing medical records and clinical documentation to accurately assign appropriate medical codes.
    2. Ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other regulatory bodies.
    3. Applying knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes to assign accurate codes.
    4. Utilizing coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems proficiently to abstract and assign codes.
    5. Communicating effectively with healthcare providers and other team members to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
    6. Staying updated on changes to coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.
    7. Collaborating with billing and reimbursement staff to ensure accurate claims submission and reimbursement.
    8. Performing coding audits and participating in coding quality improvement initiatives.
    9. Demonstrating a strong understanding of cross-specialty coding and the ability to assign codes across various medical specialties.
    10. Upholding patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in coding practices.

    Requirements:

    1. Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from a recognized accrediting body (AAPC or AHIMA).
    2. Proficiency in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD coding systems.
    3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    7. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
    8. Prior experience in medical coding preferred.
    9. Commitment to continuing education and professional development in the field of medical coding.
