- Manage a team of a few payroll specialists
- Ensure all payroll changes go smoothly (hires, terminations, raises)
- Present payroll reports (monthly, quarterly, and yearly), via PowerPoint and conference calls with senior management
- Transmit payroll files to ADP on a periodic basis
- Review manual checks and wires
- Oversee the 401K process, including correct deductions for each employee and audits on the 401K process
- Reconcile payroll to the General Ledger (G/L) monthly
- Reconcile benefits discrepancies
- Hire and train payroll personnel if needed
- Answer all payroll questions posed by employees
- Keep abreast of state and federal wage and hour laws
- Develop systems to process payroll transactions (salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes)
- Suggest implementation and upgrades of current payroll software programs, including automation procedures
- Oversee any compliance and internal controls issues involving payroll
- Assist on all payroll tax audits on all SOX, internal, and external audits
- Accept various other duties as needed
- Work experience at a company of at least one thousand (1,000) employees
- At least five (5) years of substantive payroll experience
- At least two (2) years of managerial experience, managing payroll specialists
- Multi-state payroll experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification
- Expert Level Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, IF Formulas)
- Intermediate Level Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint
- ADP Vantage or Workforce
- Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently and cooperate with fellow professionals in various disciplines and both office and out-of-office environments
- Ability to take on a substantial workload to lead the team through example if needed
- Detail oriented, with high level of ethics and integrity
- Must be willing to develop and grow with the company and have the desire to take on more responsibility
- Superior communication skills (oral, written)
