- Bachelor's Degree in Cell/Molecular biology or Biochemistry or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience in a facility with general analytical and preparative laboratory methods.
- Ability to perform molecular techniques such as; western blotting analysis, PCR/qPCR, handling animal work, and be able to productively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to do genotyping/sequencing for mouse colony development and cell culture work and maintenance.
- Capable with current Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Recent experience in basic research

In combination with a variety of capital-intensive equipment, dedicated laboratory space, and expert faculty supervision, the Research Assistant Tech contributes to a nationally competitive and externally funded independent research program that investigates the role of Homocysteine in aging eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy (DR) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
The Research Assistant Tech contributes to the OU teaching mission by mentoring and training students pursuing independent research projects in the lab.
