    *Scientist II-IV**Location: Ridgefield, CT**Duration: 12+ Months*Scientist II-IV/ Senior Scientist, Solid-State & API Engineering
    The qualified candidate will be hired at the appropriate level commensurate with education and experience.


    Description:
    This position will support the development of Client biologically active compounds within the BI pipelines.

    A knowledge of the drug development process and application of solid-state chemistry, process chemistry and chemical engineering principles throughout the phases of drug process development is desired.

    Specifically, this position, in close collaboration with their supervisor and colleagues in CMC Development groups, will conduct solid form identification and development per project timeline.

    The individual will conduct solid form screening, characterization, hit forms evaluation and selection, as well as API isolation process and API co-processing development.

    The candidate should have strong communication & interpersonal skills, be able to multi-task and have a problem-solving mindset to handle challenging projects.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Design, carry out and complete routine and exploratory experiments generally without supervision; Keep abreast of relevant literature and technology
    • Start to develop understanding of API development issues in CMC area
    • Identify areas that need improvement and help implement changes; Integrate new technologies into research work
    • Effectively communicate own work in oral or written forms in the context of team goals; Draft and audit technical reports; Discuss and present own work responsibly in a concise and accurate manner at group/project meetings
    • Exhibit effective teamwork skills and interact effectively in an interdisciplinary environment
    • Participate in training of scientists of interests in area of expertise
    • Maintains proper records (electronic notebook, binders, etc.) in accordance with SOPs and policies, ensures that work performed in area of responsibilities conducted in a safe and compliant manner. Manage all aspects of laboratory operations

    Requirements:

    Senior Scientist:
    Ph.
    D. in Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, Organic chemistry or related fields and 0-4 years of pharmaceutical industry or relevant research experience in drug substance or drug product process development, chemical engineering or related fields

    Scientist II-IV:
    Master's Degree with 0-6+ years of experience or Bachelor's Degree with 0-10+ years of experience in Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, Organic chemistry or related fields and 0-4 years of pharmaceutical industry or relevant research experience in drug substance or drug product process development, chemical engineering or related fields

    Requirements for both levels:

    • Ability to independently perform hands-on activities for solid form screening and development, data analysis and interpretation
    • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and apparatuses
    • Has strong motivation to explore new technologies and concepts
    • Should be able to work independently, and cultivate strong team sprit within teams and groups
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    Desired Skills and

    Experience:

    • Sound knowledge and experience in solid-state chemistry, process chemistry. Previous experience with solid form, polymorphism or crystallization development is a plus
    Master's Degree with 0-6+ years of experience or Bachelor's Degree with 0-10+ years of experience in Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, Organic chemistry or related fields and 0-4 years of pharmaceutical industry or relevant research experience in drug substance or drug product process development, chemical engineering or related fields
