    Acquisition Support Engineer

    The GBS Group has an exciting opportunity for an Acquisition Support Engineer. As an acquisition support engineer with GBS, you will work both independently and with a team of professional engineers and technicians at NAVSEA on complex projects related to new construction naval ship systems and platforms. The position will develop and analyze new construction machinery control systems (MCS). This position will utilize professional leadership skills and experience in developing state of the art control systems to include feasibility studies, design, system integration, testing and in service support. The position will contribute real value by designing, developing, and providing troubleshooting and testing support to new acquisition ship platforms.

    The acquisition support engineer position shall have the following experience:
    • Worked in the areas of marine propulsion, electric and auxiliary plant control systems and worked in various areas from feasibility studies to contract and preliminary design, detail design, system integration, witness testing, and in-service support. Shipboard customers have included US Navy, USCG, MSC, NOAA, ONR, and others.
    • Understanding of PLC and engine control unit (ECU) functions
    • Knowledge of CMMI Level III or ISO 9000/9001.
    • Familiar and have worked with reviewing the Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) and ship specification process.
    • Experience with the DD Form 1423 that list contract data requirements.
    • Experience and have Prepared specifications and detail design drawings.
    • Experience with preparing control system study or white paper to assess impact on systems.
    • Experience with reviewing schematics to validate whether drawing included all the requirement design and signals.
    • Provided technical services for the Machinery Control System design including development of system architecture, signal list, and conducting vendor proposal evaluations.
    • Experience or have participated in ship acquisition milestone process.
    • Familiar with the ship Acquisition strategy.
    • Participated or have supported land-based test facility testing.
    • Experience with reviewing test procedures.
    • Provided technical design review support for the preliminary design review and ability to understand ship specifications and design documentation.
    Qualifications

    Candidates for this position must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:
    • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Systems Engineering
    • Minimum 3 years' experience in design and support of control systems or marine system design, implementation and/or support.
    • Familiar with control system component functionality and modular design.
    • Prefer 1 years' experience onboard Naval ships or Maritime college graduate.
    • Must have or be able to acquire a Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required)
    Physical / Mental Requirements
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Basic math computational skills
    • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the (Naval/ Maritime) facility or ship.
    • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
