    Description

    Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

    The Network Engineer in this role must possess in-depth knowledge of networking solutions and experience in the definition, design, integration, test, and certification of related hardware and software requirements and will be responsible for one or more of the following:

    • Interpret, allocate, tailor, write and flow down requirements to all levels of a system architecture
    • Design and develop network architectures, perform hardware integration and testing, and requirements analysis
    • Trade studies, documenting subsystem architectures, analyzing performance, and evaluating Technology Readiness Level (TRL) with regard to supplier current and future products offerings
    • Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams and specifications
    • Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate network solutions
    • Technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration and test support
    • Developing supplier documentation, performance based specifications, and statements of work
    • Building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection
    • Review documents from the supplier's development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews

    A successful Network Engineer has good leadership skills and understands the scope of the work and the impact of the work on other teams, consistently brings up concerns, issues and risks to program and technical leadership and holds the team to a high level of technical rigor.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 5 or more years of engineering experience or MS with 3 years or more years of engineering experience or Ph.D. with 2 or more years of engineering experience
    • Active in scope DoD Secret Clearance
    • Understanding of IP4 network design, including IP subnetting and routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
    • Familiarity with the OSI model in relation to network equipment
    • Ability to configure and troubleshoot common network devices; Required: Cisco IOS-XE

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Possess a DODD 8570 certifications, such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar network/security certifications
    • Ability to configure and troubleshoot common network devices; Preferred: Junos, Panos
    • Demonstrated understanding of IP address planning, VLANs, ACLs, encapsulation, switching, routing, QoS, service and/or application protocols
    • Experience with authentication and data encryption methods, to include securing communications at either the data-link or network layer
    • Experience with embedded systems, Windows, Unix and/or Linux operating systems, non-Cisco routing environments, single board computers, servers and Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions
    • Working knowledge of cyber security and Risk Managed Framework (RMF), STIGs and associated elements
    • Experience performing troubleshooting with traffic capture tools; such as Wireshark and tcpdump
    • Exposure to next generation networking technologies including: Software Defined Networking & Micro-segmentation and/or Azure and AWS cloud
    • Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools (Cameo, DOORS, Rhapsody, etc.), developing/maturing requirements, and tracing requirements through various levels

    Salary Range: $92,600 - $139,000

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
