    Description

    Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Senior Lighting Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, striking, maintaining, and repairing lighting production equipment to enhance the live entertainment experience and special events performed throughout the Event Center.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    1. Performs set up and installs equipment such as lighting fixtures, recording equipment, connecting wires, cables and lighting consoles for events and functions such as concerts, sports events, meetings and conventions, presentations, and news conferences

    2. Operates spotlight and lighting control boards operations and programming. Focuses lighting and makes adjustments to artist or event specifications. Accommodates artist/event lighting requirements as needed.

    3. Interprets artist rider and specifications to adequately prepare for live events. This includes but not limited to setting up live events per schematics including the construction of staging, lighting, and lighting fixtures. Creates and distributes lighting plot plans.

    4. Assists the Lighting Lead in creating user guides and usage manuals. Builds equipment racks and on a regular basis updates equipment firmware.

    5. Serves a proxy in absence of Lighting Lead to supervise events, as needed.

    6. Performs the load-in of band equipment and rental equipment. Sets up and breaks down band and event equipment.

    7. Maintains knowledge of lighting technologies/equipment and retains active status of lighting programming certifications.

    8. Supports the Lighting Lead in performing all necessary maintenance and repairs of all equipment and expedites maintenance issues as necessary to appropriate service vendors. Executes preventative maintenance programs and procedures, as assigned.

    9. Cleans and sanitizes lighting equipment and stores properly after use.

    10. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.


    Education/Experience/Qualifications

    • Associate's degree in related field required,
    • Minimum of five (5) years of live music/lighting venue experience with large-scale events and tours required.
    • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
    • Previous experience as a L1 level (or higher) lighting programmer for live entertainment performance.
    • Musical touring and electrical experience preferred.
    • Must be proficient in the use of a Grand MA 3 console.
    • Advanced knowledge of various types of lighting fixtures including moving head lighting
    • Must have manual dexterity, technical acumen. An excellent eye for image quality is required.
    • Advanced knowledge of DMX addressing 3 pin and/or 5 pin preferred.
    • Must be a strong self-starter who is able to set priorities under pressure of deadlines and maintain the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Must have exceptional customer service skills and possess a strong ability to lead and build teams.
    • Must be proficient in both Mac and PC platforms. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 preferred.
    • Must possess the ability to learn and thoroughly understand current and new technical systems. Must be able to read and understand technical materials.
    • Must possess the ability to understand, synthesize, and troubleshoot large complex lighting systems.
    • Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

    • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
    • Professional certification in lighting technology is required at time of hire.
    • Certification from OSHA-10 and 30 preferred.
    • AVIXA-CTS certification is preferred.
    • Certification/training in Grand MA consoles, various moving lights is strongly preferred.
