    Job Description and Duties

Are you a creative thinker and self-motivated engineer who is interested in river restoration, river hydraulics, and hydrology? Do you want to be part of a collaborative team of technical experts who help preserve California's water resources for the next generation? If so, then this position may be right for you

The Department of Water Resources' South Central Region Office has an opening for an Engineer, Water Resources position in the Hydrology, Hydraulics, and Flood Management Section.

The San Joaquin River System is the second largest river in the state and offers many beneficial uses that sustain humans and wildlife, including drinking, agricultural irrigation, wildlife habitat, and recreation. Over the years, human and naturally occurring impacts have affected the river's connectivity. DWR is one of the leading agencies in the San Joaquin River Restoration Program helping to restore self-sustaining fish populations to the river. The restoration area stretches for 150 miles of the San Joaquin River, from the base of Friant Dam to the confluence with the Merced River.

Under the direction of the Senior Engineer, Water Resources, the successful candidate will perform a variety of engineering tasks and assignments, including conducting studies and investigations, gathering resources data, preparing reports and design documents, and assisting with the implementation of projects related to water resources. Most of the candidate's responsibilities will be related to river restoration on the San Joaquin River System but will also support other activities within the River Investigations Branch.

We encourage all candidates interested in this challenging and rewarding work to apply for this position. The position will be located at the South Central Region Office in a brand-new state-of-the-art building in Fresno, with opportunities for teleworking.
