Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Orthopedic

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM

• Every other weekend requirement

• 2-3 holiday requirements from Thanksgiving to New Year's

• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6 on 55-bed unit

• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS preferred

• Must pass open book skills exam on Friday during orientation with 90% score or contract termination

• 2 days of unit-specific orientation provided

• Dress code requires navy blue scrubs for RNs

• Artificial nails prohibited - refusal to remove will result in contract termination

• Driver's license required at submittal to verify 50-mile radius requirement

• Care for patients with joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, orthopedic trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive

• Required to titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips and manage PCA pumps

• Must have telemetry awareness as RNs work with tele techs for strip interpretation

• Floating required to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients

• Use EPIC charting system

• Focus on hourly rounding, responsiveness, and managing multiple discharges and admissions daily

• Serve diverse patient population including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese cultures

The medical surgical orthopedic unit features 55 beds with modern equipment including mechanical lifts in every other room.
