Role Description Form Energy has an exciting opportunity for a staff mechanical engineer to join our talented systems engineering team within the technology group in our Berkeley, CA, location.
This multidisciplinary team is focused on delivering the product enclosure and auxiliary systems design for our energy storage system.This new position will ideally suit someone with expertise in the design and execution of complex mechanical assemblies, parts, and components, from concept to production of HVAC, airflow, and fluids handling systems, including ducting, plumbing, enclosures, and structures with low-cost sheet metal and plastics.
Developing 3D models and 2D drawings for fabrication using CAD, experience working with and sourcing external vendors and contract manufacturers, and willingness to roll up one's sleeves and be hands-on and mentoring less experienced engineers.
This opportunity will help shape and scale our multi-day energy storage system, contributing to the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible missionDesign, prototype, and test electrolyte management and air delivery systems to meet critical performance requirements
Participate in component integration events, fabricating and testing first-of-a-kind prototypes to validate system design choices
Participate in first fielded units for systems validation
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor's with 7+ years, or Master's with 3+ years industry experience in mechanical design, equipment, or liquid or gas handling systems
Experience with first-principles modeling and design and experience optimizing designs for manufacturing and cost-down
Demonstrated experience with optimizing mechanical design, balance-of-plant systems, and interdisciplinary interfaces of fluid systems or airflow systems
